ESO has signed an agreement with a consortium led by the Leibniz-Institut für Astrophysik Potsdam (AIP) to build 4MOST, a unique, next-generation spectroscopic instrument which will be mounted on the Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA) at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in northern Chile.
